Inspired by the Spanish architecture of the southwest and the Tuscan villas of the Mediterranean, this house is luxury living at its best. With stone used extensively on the exterior and interior along with stucco and exposed timber framing, the house is rooted to the landscape and surrounding environment. The entry courtyard is welcoming and serves as an outdoor living space. The trellis that draws visitors to the front door also provides a private entrance to the guest suite and a sheltered outdoor sitting area with a fire pit for cozy evening gatherings. The dramatic entry provides a central circulation space for the whole house with access to the courtyard pool and an open staircase to the bedrooms upstairs. Step down to the recreation room with french doors to the pool deck.

The open kitchen dining and living space is vaulted with clerestory windows and exposed timber roof trusses. The kitchen is very spacious with an open walk in pantry
. A breakfast nook provides casual eating space with windows on three sides to enjoy the scenery. The living and dining spaces open up on both sides to outdoor living areas that can take advantage of weather conditions and changing seasons. Stepping up to a semi private study that too has access to pool courtyard, this space is a quiet retreat from the public living spaces and a transitional space into the master bedroom which has a fireplace, separate dressing rooms and a luxurious bath with tub and shower and separate vanities.

The second floor is for the kids with two bedrooms each with walk in closets and a jack and jill bath for privacy. There is a second floor living area for seclusion from the public space and has a covered balcony that overlooks the pool courtyard below.

The first floor area of the house is 3452 square feet plus 464 square feet in the quest suite. The second floor is 1200 square feet. Total living space is 5116 square feet.

Here in the Newcomb house, Northwest Arts and Crafts characteristics are combined with design elements that compliment contemporary living. This design eludes a refined rustic feeling with stone base accents that support exposed timber framing elements. Wood construction and detailing keep this design connected to the earth and environment. The character and textures provided with the exposed structural elements create character and intimate exterior spaces. Outdoor living is generously accommodated at both the front and rear areas of the house enabling living spaces that take advantage of the transitioning seasons.

Feeling comfortable in the mountains or in a spacious wooded urban setting this house has windows and architectural features that can capture spectacular views and vistas. The exterior timber framing and trellis features serve to create exterior transitional spaces and break down the hard clear divisions between interior and exterior. The kitchen in today’s mode of social living is often the central space of social activity. This house accommodates these lifestyle characteristics with a spacious kitchen that is open to a cozy breakfast nook and the dining and living spaces. The main living space will have a timber framed vaulted ceiling that directly extends out to the rear covered outdoor living areas. Architectural detailing throughout the interior should be rich with wood and texture. A generous tiled formal entry leads into the main living spaces. Adjacent is a semi-private study which could also accommodate a small bedroom. Private space of the master bedroom are close by but conveniently secluded and include a spacious walk-in closet and luxurious master bath.
