The exterior detailing with board and batten and lap siding is at home in a historic neighborhood or your secluded vacation spot. A main floor office / bedroom provides flexibility for empty nesters or a growing family. The living spaces are open and efficient for casual living and keeps the feeling cozy and affordable. The Living room has porthole windows at the public side to provide privacy and still allow ample daylight into the space and a wall of cabinetry below. The detailing is refined traditional. Porch columns and roof trim is streamlined and clean yet still incorporate elements of colonial cottages built in many regions of the country. Originally conceived to take advantage of an urban setting with alley access the garage could be configured to allow front access for typical suburban developments. Design elements are simple symmetrical gable roofs and window elements assembled in a casual asymmetrical building mass. Able to blend into a beach community or an urban infill lot, this house has cottage detailing and is sized to be efficient. The symmetrical and formal elevation could easily be oriented towards the street in an urban setting to establish an architectural presence in a neighborhood. This orientation creates a sense of privacy while still allowing neighbor interaction. The second story is set back so that the design might fit in with a neighborhood of single story homes.
This house has the ability to fit into a variety of site configurations. This facade would be appropriate for a suburban lot with the front porch opening to the street. This house would also work well in a rural setting oriented with rear porch or dining windows to take advantage of a view.

The garage door is oriented to the side to be less prominent and take advantage of a possible alley access. The second floor is all about efficiency and encompass a mere 510 square feet. The room configuration allows for windows on three sides of each bedroom so they are bright and feel more spacious. Efficient closets and bath with linen storage complete the comfortable but utilitarian room configuration.

Ample covered outdoor living space expands the living area for entertainment or relaxing. Both the dining and living spaces are oriented and aligned with the covered porch areas to enhance vistas or views. The design is a modern interpretation of the prairie style that was so popular in the early half of the 1900′s. The detailing is clean and the spaces are open and comfortable. With traditional forms the interior spaces are open and flow both visually and functionally to the outdoor living spaces. Main floor master bedroom suite is a secluded retreat from the public spaces. Originally considered for a city corner lot with views to the private side the front is semi private and the living spaces are open and are best enjoyed in a mild climate.
Vaulted ceilings at the public spaces create a dramatic experience that flows to the outdoor living areas. Upstairs has two generous bedrooms with walk in closets that share a single full bathroom. The stairwell is open with windows that flood light to the lower level.
